Community Groups

Community Groups are the best place to connect at Calvary Chapel if you want to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Our Community Groups are designed to help you develop significant relationships with others who can encourage and challenge you to consistently apply the truths of God’s Word to each area of your life.

Community Groups are not just “another thing” at Calvary Chapel; they are the main channel for discipleship and care for each person who is a part of the Calvary Chapel family.

A Community Group will be comprised of various members of the body of Christ from Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour meeting together with the express purpose of living for and loving Jesus together. Each group should aim to encompass a diverse mix of people from the young to the elderly, from families to singles, and male and female.

Overview of Community Groups

Each Community Group meets two to three times each month and is led by a trained Community Group Leader. Group meetings are normally two hours and include time for Bible study/discussion, accountability, and prayer, as well as informal times to build relationships with others in the group.

God wants every follower of Jesus to be continually growing as we worship Christ, walk with Christ, and work for Christ. Each Calvary Chapel Community Group is committed to both Mutual Ministry and Multiplication.

Mutual Ministry means that each member of the group is looking for ways to minister to the Lord, to the other members of the group, the church body corporately, and the wider community of Secret Harbour and beyond. All groups should also be prayerfully considering a way to extend the ministry of their Community Group through Multiplication. Multiplication means eventually forming two or more groups so that others who are not yet in Community Groups can continue to find places to connect with a Community Group.

To accomplish this, Community Groups will aim to gather to:

  1. Exalt and Elevate the name of Jesus in Worship
  2. Edify one another through study of the scriptures and fellowship one to another
  3. Entreat God on behalf of one another in Prayer
  4. Evangelise by engaging with the wider community, sharing the gospel, and duplicating the Community Group
