The early years of Jesus were ones of danger and great trouble. Born in a stable, then having to flee to Egypt and then return to a small hamlet in Galilee called Nazareth. As we read this amazing story, it amazes me how that God allowed His Son Jesus to be born as an infant in such a dangerous world. But God had an amazing plan of salvation and He planned for His Son to be placed in this violent place because of His great love for each of us. Sometimes we recoil at the dangers of the world we now find ourselves living in. The story of Jesus should, in our times of fear, raise up hope and strength, with the knowledge that our Heavenly Father has everything in control – including us. May we each this Sunday again celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in our world with the knowledge it was for us! May you like the Magi, today worship, He is born King of the Jews!
The Bible – how important it is, yet so many of us can slip out the door and forget to bring it with us. The word is called ‘the sword of the Spirit’ (Eph 6:17). Even our Lord when attacked by Satan countered with “it is written” (matt 4). If Jesus uses the sword – His Word to defect the enemy, why do we think we can without it? Where is your sword – is it ready on your mind and in your heart or is it gathering dust on the coffee table? We have a great example in the Lord wielding His sword to gain victory against the enemy. Follow His example and win the battles set before you! Don’t forget to register for the Women’s Seminar this Saturday morning @ 9:00am. Crèche is available. See you then – Helen.
